I have an 8 yr. old daughter who's asking if she can have a pet turtle.
Any suggestions on taking care of 'em? What kind to get for starters?

Thanks.

i think that you need to be careful for your kids to handle them even though they're cute....hands need to be washed after handling your pet turtles cause most of them are not guaranteed to be clean...

siguro just place them in a clean aquarium where the water level is not too high so you can place some stuff there where the turtles can crawl over to bask away from the water :D ...yun ang ginawa ko noon...

snapping turtles usually are found in swamps and in the wild...they aren't raised as pets

Yep.. that's what my friend told me too when I went to get turtles of my own (cleaning/washing your hands after holding them. they have somekinda virus or bacteria called salmonella). I dont know what kind they were though.. anyhow.. they're dead *sniff*

Sabi ng friend ko you have to brush their shells every so often coz if you dont their shells get soft and weaken and that's bad.
